18. THEY SHOULD RESERVE SCHOLARSHIP MONEY FOR PEOPLE WHO REALLY NEED IT!

19. I really don’t think scholarships should be given to persons that are worth over a certain amount. That money should go to someone whose parents aren't worth over 100 million.

Common sense

20. No he didn't give up the scholarship as someone said that's what everyone ASSUMED he'd do. In fact he got this because USC wanted his buddy Demar Derozan, who's actually really good(Romeo isn't). Derozan announced last week he might not sign with USC, and 2 days later they announced Romeo was getting a scholarship, we call that blackmail you give my buddy a ride or I won't play for USC. The press release quoted ballersonly.com rating Romeo a top 15 national player, guess who owns that site, yes Master P!!!!!

It's hype, he got the ride because USC wanted Derozan and Tim Floyd was willing to sell his soul to Master P to get him.

22. It should not make a difference how much money he or his family has made. If he earned the grades, he should be receiving the same rewards as other students. Scholarships, grants, etc. should be need-blind and given to students based on academic achievement only. It send the message that if you work hard and get good grades, you will be rewarded based on that fact, not what your financial status is.

23. I agree that its a shame the scholarship can't go to a student that needs it. College is getting outrageously expensive and many middle class and poor kids will never get the opportunity. Congrats to him, I suggest he should foot the bill for some deserving but poor black teenager to have the life changing opportunity to get a college degree.

24. People. He wouldn't have a scholarship if he wasn't good friends with Demar Derozan. He doesn't have good enough skills to play JC ball, let alone Div 1. SC is a joke for taking him. I feel bad for the kid, though. He seems like a bright kid. Just a bit delusional, no thanks to his dad.

25. #6...its called an ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP!!!

Posted at 3:51PM on Nov 19th 2007 by JCC925

26. Hmm. Thug acting dad sends his boy to "Beverly hills high" (not a school in the hood of course) and he graduates with honors. Boy, I bet that required a huge amount of after school tutoring! But I have met lots of people who were intellectually incompetent but graduated with honors ,so that doesn't impress me. Many high schools give em out a dime a dozen! Sounds like USC is trying to be political correct by doing this. I remember when it was a big roar because Asians and black kids were being denied entrance to USC because USC did not think these students would be academically productive , once accepted into the university. So now USC feels if they let a rapper in, they can say they are not racist. The sad thing, Smart middle class kids (black and white) probably had better academic value than this individual , (is he even 6fett tall?) but USC is trying to make a political point. I wana puke!!!

27. #22 AGAIN...its an ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP. Not a WHO DESERVES A SCHOLARSHIP? If those "deserving" people could play ball or had grades...they could get one. But since they can't...do like everyone else. GET A LOAN!!!

28. @Rap sucks!

Its sad that even when somebody does something GOOD, you can't see past your own racism and hate to see it. You weren't in his classrooms, you don't know that he didn't earn his grades. At Beverly Hills High School, i'm sure they're not just handing out good grades. Maybe just maybe he earned them. And why would he go to school in the "hood" when he and his family are millionaires, just because he once lived there obviously he has made it out of the "hood" and wants something better for hisself. And i don't think USC really gives a damn about political correctness when admitting him....MAYBE HE WAS JUST THAT GOOD! Please go find a life, because you spent so much time on TMZ hating on black people every story that you must live a pathetic life.

29. Money or no money he made the grades, he got the honors! He can play basketball, he got the scholarship! He's got a great attitude, work ethic, he got the TV show on nickelodeon!

I dont understand WHY u would want to undercut someone that's actually WORKED for a positive outcome? So what his father had a SUCCESSFUL rap career and made music you may not like. He has turned his pennies into millions and a horrible life into a great one! GET OVER IT! That was then and this is now. He's teaching his kids whats right and I applaud him for that. What he does with that scholarship is up to him....

GREAT JOB ROMEO!!

30. He's not taking a scholarship from anybody next year they have the ride to give, after that who knows but he likely only gets a 1 year ride. IT's all about getting his friend Derozan, when he goes to the NBA in one year I'm sure Romeo will make a big deal out of giving up his ride to someone who needs it more, he'll look like a great guy. He wanted the ride for a reason, he wants to be able to say he's the first rapper to get a scholarship to a D1 school for sports, for some reason that's important to him and his dad.

he's not that good he's not even the best player on his own HS team.
